Sarika Q Connor, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)®
I was first introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine at a young age. It was not uncommon to take a trip to the acupuncturist or herbalist if someone got sick or injured in the family. I grew to understand the value of the medicine later as an adult. After a car accident in college left me with multiple injuries and lots of deep scar tissue, I found the biggest relief through regular acupuncture treatments and yoga. My passion for health and wellness deepened as I went on to teach yoga for 8 years. Along the way, I was introduced to Somatic Movement Therapy in the Body-Mind Centering (BMC) technique, through my friend and teacher, Chloë Chung. "Body-Mind Centering, developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, is an experiential study based on the embodiment and application of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical and developmental principles, utilizing movement, touch, voice and mind." The practices healed me in so many ways and inspired me to explore and broaden my understanding in health and healing, and to reconnect with my ancestral roots, leading me to pursue my Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Soma Acupuncture and Wellness was created as a way to incorporate my passion for somatic movement therapy and experiences, with my love of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I feel so fortunate be able share with others the power of this medicine. My goal is to help you experience the joy of healthy mind, body and spirit.
